Marketing and social media internship

Easy Event Planning LLC (EEP) has an exciting internship opportunity for students to gain real-world, resume-building experience. EEP is a technology company that is changing the way people plan events. You’ll have a chance to make significant contributions to a first-of-its-kind social networking event planning website that has recently gone live.  We have the largest event vendor directory in the United States (more than 400k profiles) and game-changing technology that no one has (an instant chat feature, for example). The site is poised to become very high-profile in coming years. EEP's CEO, Kathleen Kilmer, graduated from Binghamton University’s MBA program.
Past interns have gone to attain high-level internships and paid positions. The experience you can get here is typically unparalleled.

Students may have a chance to work on projects related to:
·       Social media marketing
·       Email marketing
·      Data management (critical to the success of any email marketing campaign)
·       Public relations
·       Search engine optimization
·       Quality/usability testing of the company’s site, mobile site and app
·       Sales (this is optional but extremely valuable)

We can create projects related specifically to Information Technology for those majors as well.
Students typically have a range of projects during a given semester. Other projects may become available as well.

We’re looking for serious-minded students who are looking to learn, take initiative and build their resume skills. You can work from home and create your own schedule, though some hours will be required during regular business hours. Although most communication will take place via Skype, email and phone, Ms. Kilmer will likely be in Binghamton during the semester to meet with you in person as well. This is currently an unpaid internship position. We have hired exceptional interns upon completion of their internships, as the needs of the business have allowed.

Desired Qualifications:
•                Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•                Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
•                Self-motivated; ability to work independently and efficiently
•                Pays extreme attention to detail
•                Determination for excellence
Please send a cover letter indicating why you’re interested in the position.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to request general CDCI academic credit for this internship, undergraduate students must contact cdci@binghamton.edu once you have been hired. If you want credit through your department/major or are a graduate student, please contact your academic department.

Ms. Kilmer’s bio
Ms. Kilmer has 25 years of experience in the areas of digital and traditional marketing, SEO, international product development, project management, marketing analysis, consulting and sales. After graduating from Binghamton University’s 3-2 program with an MBA in operations and marketing (and an undergraduate degree in psychology), she took a position as an administrative assistant in the marketing department of a financial publisher (Waters Information Systems). Her intention was to gain experience in the marketing field and move on but, instead, she worked her way up to Director of Global Sales & Marketing by the age of 25. Under her leadership, the company achieved profitability for the first time in 12 years. She helped to grow revenue from $4 million to $6 million over the course of three years. She successfully managed the launch of five products globally and opened new markets in California, London, Singapore and Sydney for the company’s new training division. She opened the company’s Singapore branch.
Since leaving Waters in 2001, she has helped a number of small businesses to expand their businesses and their marketing presence online. She began Easy Event Planning in 2002. Ms. Kilmer resides in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.
