Internship Opportunity (unpaid): Binghamton Philharmonic 

Organization With its mission of “building community through the power of live music,” the Binghamton Philharmonic is Broome County’s only professional symphony orchestra. In providing the Southern Tier, Northeastern PA, and surrounding areas with performances of live orchestral music by artists of incomparable talent, the orchestra makes great music accessible to all through innovative, engaging, and affordable programming within and beyond the concert hall. The BPO provides an essential contribution to the community’s artistic life by connecting professional musicians with audiences for collaborations, concerts, and educational programs that stimulate the economy and expand music’s possibilities for a broad regional audience.

Location 71 State Street, Lower Level, Binghamton, NY 13901 

Time Frame Fall 2020 semester, 10 hours/week 

Reports To Paul Cienniwa, Executive Director; Abigail Cleveland, Assistant Executive Director 

Qualifications: Business background; interest in classical music; interest in nonprofit management 

Project Description: 
Create Business Plan for Marketing and Licensing of Proprietary App Functioning as a digital program book, our to-be-named app gives concertgoers the opportunity to experience live program notes during concerts. While some orchestras have used similar interactive technology, the BPO’s app is proprietary and available for licensing to other orchestras and performing arts organizations. Our intern will help to build a marketing and licensing plan for national and international distribution of the app. (6 hours) 

Establish Protocol for Per-Concert Cost and Revenue Analysis The BPO administration is looking for ways to streamline its method of approaching event costs while also having a better sense of anticipated revenue. An intern with a background in for-profit organizations will have a good sense of how we can be more efficient. Our intern will look at our current procedures and develop a working plan.
